In the Ötztal - under the best test conditions in Europe!
During our 4 weeks test phase in Obergurgl-Hochgurgl the supposedly best 
skis on the market have a hard time defending their good reputation under the most challenging conditions. But also our experienced testers have to face 4 weeks of tough test runs - in any weather! But especially if the latter is friendly, testing skis in the Ötzal does not at last mean to have great fun on perfectly groomed slopes. Anyway, being surrounded by the overwhelming mountain scenery finally makes up for the less pleasant test runs.

Our test skis only get to know the toughest side of the Obergurgl-Hochgurgl skiing area. However, those who have already experienced a winter holiday in the Ötztal, will know for sure: the skiing area can also show its soft sides, 
very soft even. No matter whether experienced, hard boiled racer or preschool child, somewhere on our 110 kilometres of slopes at an altitude between 1.800 and 3.800 metres, everyone will find conditions according to one's individual skill level. By dint of our most modern ski lift facilities, getting there is really uncomplicated. During your scenic gondola ride just take your time and enjoy the impressive view amidst the picturesque Ötztal mountain range.
So, nothing can prevent you from having a good time skiing - but also snowboarders will not be disappointed. The best adress for freestylers is the Festkogl in Obergurgl for instance, where 6 ski jumps and a quarterpipe invite you to do some Ollies, Alley Oops and other aerial tricks. Also the 120 metres long half pipe on the Wurmkogel in Hochgurgl provides you with everything you need to check out your limits.
Not only our modern ski lifts make things a lot easier for you: about 130 skiing instructors of the Obergurgl Ski School are eager to support your progress on your way to secure carving. Already at 5 years of age, kids are welcome to find out that skiing is great fun.
No empty promises
Between the middle of November and the middle of May it is not risky to give you a snow guarantee in Hochgurgl-Obergurgl.
Even in the unlikely event of no snow, our modern artificial snow machines make sure that there is always enough snow on our pistes. But in spite of its gurgl-Obergurgl.up to date ski lifts and high-tech snow machines, the skiing area Obergurgl-Hochgurgl also puts an emphasis on sustainability and seeks to protect and preserve its environment. Not at last that is why our guests have the chance to enjoy their holiday amidst the most picturesque scenery.
Insider Tip at 1.930 Metres
Thanks to its impressive landscape, tourism has a long tradition in Hochgurgl-Obergurgl. Already in 1840 the first visitors arrived in Austria's highest parish. But while getting there probably used to be a minor adventure back then, the region is proud of its elaborate infrastructure today: airconditioned public busses take our visitors directly to the doorsteps of their hotels or the valley stations of our ski lifts. Additionally, 4.000 beds - 1.990 first class - are waiting for them.
Every year about 85.000 guests enjoy the various attractions, which make Obergurgl-Hochgurgl so irresistible. Apart from skiing, they go ice skating, curling or play squash. Lovers enjoy a romantic ride in a sleigh. Also our bowling alleys and shooting stands are well attended. If you feel like competing with you friends, do so by initiating dart, pool or table tennis tournaments. In summer, our area is most popular for hiking, mountainbiking and climbing.
Empty Stomach - Zero Fun
High well being and inner balance belong to the natural side effects of a stay in Obergurgl-Hochgurgl, at least as long as you satisfy another consequence of actively engaging in the various sports activities our region has to offer: a good - in extreme cases even ravenous - appetite. "No problem!", is what more than 20 restaurants reply to this. By dint of their regional and international cuisine, empty stomachs belong to the most uncommon phenomena hereabout. Additionally, they raise the awareness that also the culinary aspects of the region must not be underestimated. This is also valid for our 9 ski huts, where the food is not less tasty. So, while our annual ski test helps you to find your ideal ski modell, you will have to chose all by yourself at least as far as the best food for you is concerned. But don't worry, because the risk to go for a disappointing option is very low in Obergurgl-Hochgurgl.
